Well, at least a new direction in my ongoing photography project. I was recently interviewed for a magazine about my newer black and white work (I’ll let you know who if and when it publishes). This is the work can be found at the top of my Fine Art Photography page. She suggested that I do more with toys, especially once we got started on the topic. When I take photos, much of what I do as a photographer is intuitive, especially with the still life in this new series. What the work is about, in large part, is how toys come to life. As a kid, there were just days when that world was so vividly alive – little pieces of plastic became fighting soldiers and your backyard turned into alien planets or the realm of knights and princesses (at that time I was more interested in the knights than the princesses, but I know better now). The reason that I’m a photographer, at least in the greater scheme of things, is show other people my vision of the world. This is how I saw the world on Friday of last week….

I’ve been ordering more on ebay; toys that were from when I was a kid (and no longer available at Toys R Us). I just got one of those rockets that come with an air pump that you fill up with water and loose in your neighbor’s yard. I’ll have to be sure I photograph it before I play with it this time.
